What Is It?
Gunsafe is database software specifically designed for firearms collections that is free for use under the License Agreement.

Gun Safe includes the following features:

Store as many images of any firearm as you like

Track purchase information, including auction information

Track sale information, including auction information

Track condition & value of your guns*

Track gun maintenance

Keep track of accessories for your guns

Store notes about the gun

Import/Export data

Free to use

*To accurately track gun value, you will need to have knowledge of the market. This is not included with GunSafe.

Fixes a bug when adding a new record from a screen other than Details

Fixes a bug with displaying incorrect images for firearms with identical serial numbers

Now allows unlimited number of maintenance records

Eliminates the help button that did nothing

You will need WinZip or some other compression utility to unzip the files. You can get a WinZip trial here. (You do not need to download WinZip if you are on XP or greater, as this functionality is built in. You will still need to extract the compressed files, however).
Unzip the files to a folder on your hard drive
Open that folder. Double-click on the icon labeled GunSafe.exe
Start adding information about your collection!

About Gun Safe & Tech Support
I started out making Gun Safe for my own personal use, and decided to distribute it for free to anyone that wants it. Because it is free, there is no technical support. This software is provided as-is. It works on Windows 98/NT4/2000/XP/Vista. It will NOT run on a Mac. The primary work on this was done in 2002. Minor updates were made in 2006. Version 3 is being worked on but I do not have a release date yet. Hopefully it will be late Spring 2008. All data from the current version will be able to be transferred to the new version when it comes out.

The #1 Gun Safe Support Question: How Do I Add a Manufacturer?
To add a manufacturer, go to the main menu, and choose Define Manufacturers. This will bring up the Manufacturers screen. Click the "New" button to add a manufacturer. You can also automatically sort the Manufacturer name list by clicking on "Manufacturer Name" on this screen. Then go back to the main menu and add a new entry

The password feature is not functional.
